How I've Learned To Live Frugally

From Sarah:
Danny and I have simplified our lives as well.
I have to admit though, If we had a dishwasher here, I would gladly use it. I wouldn't run it till it was full and that wouldn't be that often.
I still hang clothes out to dry when I can. I dry the heavier ones because the humidity in Florida makes it hard to get them dry before the thunder bummers roll in. It's been years since either of us had anything new so it pays to take care of what one has.
We do monthly Walmart trips and visit our neighborhood (7 miles away) little store, only when we have to .
I make meals that we can eat on for a few days when I can. I freeze extras as well.
SInce I love to cook, I will often make extras. It's easy that way and I always have something to take out on those days I don't feel good.

Re-posting From Simple Reminders : Inner Peace Is The Key By Dalai Lama

Re-posting From Home Joys: "Miss Kim" Lilacs and Birthdays.

The year we married, Ed gave me a "Miss Kim" lilac for my birthday.

The "Miss Kim" lilac is a dwarf lilac. It grows slower than most lilacs and keeps a neater more rounded shape, even without pruning. After thirteen years, it is nearly six feet tall, which is about it ultimate height.
I love reading anything from this blog. It is refreshing.

http://www.melissassouthernstylekitchen.com/creamed-spinach-gratiCreamed Spinach Gratin With Bacon And Mushroomsn-with-bacon-and-mushrooms/Creamed Spinach Gratin With Bacon And Mushrooms – Creamed spinach is a classic steakhouse side dish.  It’s luscious and one of my favorite choices to enjoy instead of the expected baked potato.  Nothing against potatoes, I love them but, variety is the spice of life, right?  This version starts on the stovetop adding some smokey

Rebloogged from Elizabeth Peterson : No Regrets. Then Shared on WordPress

https://sarahsatticoftreasures.wordpress.com/2015/04/28/reblogged-from-elizabeth-peterson-no-regrets/ The Four Things You Can't Recover From Was On Elizabeth's post.
From Sarah: Elizabeth’s  timing on this post is perfect.
Menopause has not been good to me.
I was sitting at my desk here, waiting for Danny to come out of his Computer Room where he’s been tied up since we got home from Walmart. I’ve had a sinus headache all day. So my mood hasn’t been all that good. I’d tried laying down but couldn’t fall asleep. I just KNEW Danny was going to come out and say: “Are you ready for a glass of wine?” It’s been our habit to have a glass or so of wine every night. We both look forward to that. I usually have a few snacks ready as well.
This was my first read of the day.
I’d been thinking of ALL the words I wanted to say to him. The ones I really shouldn’t say. The angry, bitter or whining words.
Danny hasn’t done anything wrong. I could always go in and just ask “How much longer”.
Yet, I sit and ponder ALL those WORDS.
So Elizabeth: Thank you.

From Sarah: I enjoyed reading this post. First off, I am one of those that have to plan every penny spent. I may post meals fit for a king or queen but I can't cook them very often at home. Or when I do, I have to find a cheaper way of making the same dish.
I loved the story written here. A very good read.....
